Take Me Home (Bindarra Creek A Town Reborn) by Suzanne Gilchrist

Take Me Home (Bindarra Creek A Town Reborn)

Forgiving the past was too painful until now.

Almost forty, Abby Taylor has built a new life for herself in the small country town of Bindarra Creek. When an old friend convinces her to give two adolescent boys a temporary home, she is torn between a growing love for these orphans and the grief in her past.

After his marriage fell apart, Roman Taylor has focused on his career. An unexpected phone call sends him rushing to Abby’s side where he is drawn into his estranged wife’s new life – a life that could offer a future he thought he’d lost forever.
Will they seize this second chance to have a family of their own? Or will fate once again destroy their dreams?

Welcome to Bindarra Creek – A Town Reborn, a fictional town set on the western slopes of the New England tablelands. Take me Home is the first book in this new group writing venture series. With a community full of quirky characters, the books feature compelling romance, heart-warming family life, drama, and even suspense.

What literary pilgrimages have you gone on?

I haven’t really gone a literary pilgrimage. However, I have lived and worked in Outback and rural Australia and have drawn on my experiences there when writing this series.
What is the first book that made you cry?  Black Beauty – I’m an animal lover and was mad keen on horses as a child and teenager.

What is the most unethical practice in the Publishing industry?

Publishing organisations that charge you fees or costs to have your work published with them.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

I have to say both. Story ideas fire my imagination and I usually charge off for the first third of the book. However, then I have to stop, develop the characters, do any relevant research and plot the structure. About two thirds of the way through, I flag for a while until a new resurgence of energy pushes me across the finishing line. What does exhaust me are edits!

Tell us a little bit about your book…

Take Me Home is all about coming to terms with the past and embracing a fulfilling future. Abby Taylor believes she has moved on from a failed marriage and made a new life for herself in the small rural town of Bindarra Creek. But it’s a life she lives alone and she still holds herself apart from the community. She hasn’t really forgiven either herself or her husband. Or come to terms with their inability to have a baby of their own. However, when she gives temporary shelter to two homeless boys and her soon to be ex-husband returns unexpectedly, her walls begin to tumble down.  Take Me Home is part women’s fiction and part romance and I hope readers enjoy Abby and Roman’s story.
