Midwife Under the Mistletoe by Karin Baine

Midwife Under the Mistletoe

A kiss under the mistletoe…

A family for Christmas?

GP Fraser McColl longs to be part of a loving family, but past experience has taught him he’s better off alone. Only, thrown together with gorgeous yet guarded midwife Iona Munro, to care for two children at Christmas, he’s tempted to believe in miracles… After one passionate night together, can he persuade Iona that they deserve a lifetime of happiness—together?

What literary pilgrimages have you gone on?

I love Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, and yes, I'm obsessed with the TV show. We did a tour of the Scottish filming locations this Summer. This is me at Lallybroch.

What is the first book that made you cry?

The first book that made me cry was Anne of Green Gables when Matthew died. He bought her a dress with puffed sleeves, for heaven's sake!

What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?

As in all creative pursuits I don't think we writers earn enough in relation to the hours of work we put in.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

A little of both depending where I am in terms of writing the story and deadline. I start out fired up and full of ideas and by the end I can barely remember my own name.

Tell us a little bit about your book...

Midwife Under The Mistletoe is my latest release and another chance for me to indulge my Christmas spirit. It's everything you need for a cosy, festive read. Dr Fraser McColl is a bit of a grinch around the holidays but when he's forced to spend Christmas with feisty midwife Iona and a couple of adorable children, he finds his inner child again. Set against the backdrop of a snowy Scottish estate it's just the sort of story you want to read curled up in front of the fire.

About the Author

Karin Baine lives in Northern Ireland with her husband, two sons, and her out-of-control notebook collection. Her Mother and Grandmother's vast collection of books inspired her love of reading and her dream of becoming a Harlequin Mills & Boon® author. It wasn't until she joined her critical group UCW that she started to believe she could actually write – and only her husband's support enabled her to pursue it. At least now she can tell people she has a proper job!

  1. Congratulations Karin. Midwives are yet another job which doesn't observe the holidays...

    1. Absolutely! I think one of the biggest injustices in this world is the crazy amount of money so-called celebrities earn in comparison to our medical staff.

  2. Congratulations on what sounds like a really good read. As a reader, and friend of many authors, I totally agree that writers are not paid enough for all the research, travel, time and thought processes that go into writing a novel. I hope that changes one day soon. Hugs...RO

  4. I have a few author friends online and I agree with you, authors don't make as much as they should with all the time they put into writing these books for us to enjoy.

    1. I suppose there aren't many of us who earn as much as we'd like. There are worse jobs than writing for a living!

    Hello to all.

  9. I agree that we don't make nearly enough money for all the effort we put in, not only to write the book, but also to market it. Some get lucky, though. For the rest of us, it's about following our creative muse.
